Lord Rana Nominated for Strengthening Global Indian Diaspora
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lord Diljit Singh Rana MBE has been nominated for the inaugural Grassroot Diplomat Initiative Awards. The award looks to recognise outstanding diplomats and politicians in the UK for their dedication, commitment and selfless efforts in representing civilian matters at the highest level.
Nominated under the Social Driver category, Lord Rana is being recognised for his work with GOPIO United, an organisation which supports people of Indian origin in business, commerce, cross cultural exchange and human rights. GOPIO United has embarked on ambitious initiatives, most notably, the aim to launch an investment fund of 250 million Euros investing in good causes, projects and charitable work. These initiatives will provide positive change to support people of Indian origin in a wide range of capacities, globally.
Talyn Rahman-Figueroa, Director of Grassroot Diplomat said, “Grassroot diplomacy empowers the voiceless, defines a path for the hopeless, and restores faith to influencers. The Initiative Award seeks to build trust again between the ‘us and them’ and bring people of all statuses together.”
Lord Rana is committed to engaging the grassroots in its combined efforts to promoting business links between India and Northern Ireland, and for this, his efforts are being recognised here.
Over 50 high-level government officials have been nominated in 3 categories but there can only be six winners. Join Lord Diljit Rana and other government nominees at the Vincent Rooms, Westminster with evening performance led by Euro-Vision Song Contest artist, Imaani.
