Finnish Ambassador Nominated forExporting Finnish Theatre
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ambassador Pekka Huhtaniemi of the Embassy of Finland has been nominated for the first ever Grassroot Diplomat Initiative Awards. The award looks to recognise outstanding diplomats and politicians in the UK for their dedication, commitment and selfless efforts in representing civilian matters at the highest level.
Nominated under the Social Driver category, Ambassador Huhtaniemi has worked closely to facilitate the exchange of theatrical project From-Start-to-Finnish between Finland and the UK. In association with Pleasance Theatre and ACE Production, the Ambassador has helped to get Finnish theatre into the Edinburgh Festival and smaller UK theatres to bring exposure to his country’s cultural arts into the wider public.
Talyn Rahman-Figueroa, Director of Grassroot Diplomat said, “Grassroot diplomacy empowers the voiceless, defines a path for the hopeless, and restores faith to influencers. The Initiative Award seeks to build trust again between the ‘us and them’ and bring people of all statuses together.”
Ambassador Huhtaniemi is committed to building better understanding of Finland and its people through civil-led projects, and for this, his efforts are being recognised here.
Over 50 high-level government officials have been nominated in 3 categories but there can only be six winners. Join Ambassador Pekka Huhtaniemi and other government nominees at the Vincent Rooms, Westminster with evening performance led by Euro-Vision Song Contest artist, Imaani.
