The Embassy of Bulgaria in London has been shortlisted for the inaugural Grassroot Diplomat Initiative Award. The award looks to recognise outstanding diplomats and politicians in the UK for their dedication, commitment and selfless efforts in representing civilian matters at the highest level.

Nominated under the Social Driver category, the Embassy has shown great support to the Bulgarian School. The Embassy has selflessly provided shelter to the school for many years and thanks to their efforts, the school became the biggest outside of the Bulgarian borders. They teach between 250 and 280 pupils every year and were awarded the “Ivan Vazov” honorary medal of the State Agency for Bulgarians.

Talyn Rahman-Figueroa, Director of Grassroot Diplomat said, “Grassroot diplomacy empowers the voiceless, defines a path for the hopeless, and restores faith to influencers. The Initiative Award seeks to build trust again between the ‘us and them’ and bring people of all statuses together.”

The Bulgarian Embassy is the first embassy in London to be nominated as a full unit and is committed to engaging the grassroots in its combined efforts to developing relations with British and Bulgarian citizens. For this, their efforts are being recognised here.

Over 50 high-level government officials have been nominated in 3 categories but there can only be six winners. Join diplomats of the Bulgarian Embassy and other government nominees at the Vincent Rooms, Westminster with evening performance led by Euro-Vision Song Contest artist, Imaani.
